Our Activities

Support to Physical Challenged People

‘Helpers’ from its very inception has strived for ‘COMPREHENSIVE REHABILITATION’ of people with disabilities. The rehabilitation process begins with providing medical aid (including surgeries) and continues by providing aids and appliances (wheel chair, calipers, crutches, walkers, etc.) school and college education, vocational training, employment and finally arranging marriages with physically challenged or able bodied partners. All these services are aimed at equipping disabled persons with skills that would help them lead their lives with dignity and self-respect without being a burden on their families or on the society. Our social worker organises camps all over Gujarat to identify disabled persons, get them as much help as we can and follow-up on beneficiaries for our feedback program. We are One, which reflects our fellowship with the handicapped.

Women Empowerment

We consider the raising of awareness to be the first step towards empowerment. If we consider the country as a chariot so male and female, both of them are considered as wheel of it. Therefore, the development or empowerment of women is essential for the progress of the Nation. Through group discussion, awareness camp about herbal medicine, gender issue, education, income-generating activities we help women for their empowerment. Here we discuss health and social issues. In the rural areas, the workshops have a different emphasis. They are aimed at spreading news through the villages by word of mouth and cover general social and health issues. We are using the workshops for therapeutic purposes and to gain self-confidence. Participants are given confidence and moral support, so that they can challenge unfair behavior themselves.

Providing help to Underprivileged Child

We believe that every CHILD has the right to shine, like a diamond in the rough and every CHILD has the right to live life in all its fullness. We are here to work together and gather people who find themselves inspired to uplift the lives of those children who grow with inadequate education, resources and psychological supports - several calls them as "Underprivileged" and "Orphans". We achieve this through programmes in the areas of medical services, nutrition, vocational training, adoption, rehabilitation of physically and mentally children and the provision of day care and non-formal education. We want to create a volunteering movement where educated people like you and us can take charge of destiny of the underprivileged children and thus proudly - and together - build a stronger, vibrant, empathic and developed society. Working for causes like - care of the slum kids, disabled or orphaned or uncared children to improve the quality of their childhood is our prime motto. In providing immediate relief as well as long-term rehabilitation to these children, the focus at OMKAR has been on the girl-child, as the one who is most likely to be abandoned and in need of shelter and whose health, emotional and developmental needs are the most likely to be neglected within the family.
